  • Sl command ( steam locomotive )

We frequently use ‘ls’ command to list contents of folder . But because of mis type sometimes we result in typing sl.

Its very annoying to see “command not found” error . SO why not have some fun .

Command for installing sl :

apt install sl   [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install sl [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install sl [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S sl [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v sl [On FreeBSD]
  • cmatrix command

It gives a look to your desktop of a hacker.

Command for installing cmatrix :

apt install cmatrix  [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install cmatrix [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install cmatrix [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S cmatrix [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v cmatrix [On FreeBSD]
  • fortune command

It tells your random fortune.

To install use -

apt install fortune [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install fortune [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install fortune [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S fortune [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v fortune [On FreeBSD]
  • Cowsay

An ASCII cow in the terminal will say whatever you want.

To install use -

 apt install cowsay [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install cowsay [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install cowsay [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S cowsay [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v cowsay [On FreeBSD]
  • toilet command
 apt install toilet [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install toilet [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install toilet [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S toilet [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v toilet [On FreeBSD]
  • Coloured toilet
  • aafire command

It displays fire in you terminal .

Command for installing cmatrix :

 apt install libaa-bin [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install aalib [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install aalib [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S aalib [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v aalib [On FreeBSD]
  • bb command

For installing use -

 apt install bb [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
yum install bb [On CentOS/RHEL 7]
dnf install bb [On CentOS/RHEL 8 & Fedora]
pacman -S bb [On Arch Linux]
pkg_add -v bb [On FreeBSD]
  • ASCIIquarium command

It will give you an aquarium in terminal.

For installing follow -

apt-get install libcurses-perl
cd /tmp
wget http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/K/KB/KBAUCOM/Term-Animation-2.4.tar.gz
tar -zxvf Term-Animation-2.4.tar.gz
cd Term-Animation-2.4/
perl Makefile.PL && make && make test
make install
cd /tmp
wget http://www.robobunny.com/projects/asciiquarium/asciiquarium.tar.gz
tar -zxvf asciiquarium.tar.gz
cd asciiquarium_1.1/
cp asciiquarium /usr/local/bin
chmod 0755 /usr/local/bin/asciiquarium
